We have no dress code in my dance school. Anything goes as long as it's form-fitting and class-appropriate. Not that I would mind regulation wear, but it's much more fun to choose your own style! I like to mix it up: pink tights, purple leggings, black cut-offs on top of pink tights, shorts, skirts, long-sleeved tees pulled down and tied as skirts. Leos in hot pink, jade, lilac, black, red and white. Self-made tops from leggings and tights, preferably in funky colors. T-shirts with ballet logos/prints. I might even wear the occasional fake flower in my hair!
Today, I feel like pink.

Wow, that's a LOT of pink!
ReplyDeleteI think the only pink items I have are my tights and shoes. Why is ballet associated with pink so much? Is it because of the tights?
I do have a bright royal blue leotard that is my favorite.
The skirt is actually red, and the shoes a peachy pink colour. The light in this photo is filtered through red curtains! :)
ReplyDeleteBut good question about the pink. Considering that pink tights don't even look pink on your legs, more like a blush white. And pointe shoes are for the most part a peachy/champagne colour. I'm guessing because ballet class is so strongly associated with little girls, hence the pink. Although when I was a little girl, pink was seen only on Barbie dolls. The same colour as my leo! LOL! :D
Royal blue sounds lovely - and is still missing in my colour collection..
Love that skirt!
ReplyDeleteThanks - me too! Though I mostly wear my standard short black skirt :)
DeleteAhhh, pink! It's so pretty! Honestly, after I hit 10 I thought I'd never be able to wear pink again to ballet without looking like an idiot in my dance classes. Now, I've been inspired again!
ReplyDeleteI know that DDS sells that bloch leo online... mind if I copy you a bit? ;) :P
I love reading your blog, and seeing your "Class Outfits" posts. I do hope you post some more! I love the pics, and you sound like one stylish dancer! :D
I do not mind anyone copying my style - but should you come to the same class in the same pink leo.. Nah, that would be fun too, we would have to dance side by side! ;)
DeleteI never wore pink as a girl, but then again I never took ballet until I was 21. This pink is more hot than little-girl-candy-pink, and the leo's cut is elegant enough to make it a woman's outfit. And the color is a real energy boost!
As you can see from my lates "Class Outfits" post, I'm not over my pink phase yet :)
Did u have to dye ur pointe shoes for them to get to be that color?
ReplyDeleteNo, I did not. Actually, the color is a bit off in this photo. The sunlight was too strong, so I drew the curtains - which filtered the light a pinkish shade! The shoes are peachy in color, like you can see on Bloch's web site. Sorry about the mislead! ;)
