I must admit to asking my teacher on Saturday whether we looked ridiculous when she asked if we had any questions after completing a port de bras. It's a very romantic choreography complete with lots of head tilts and I suddenly became self aware in the middle... but she assured me that we did not look silly :-)
ReplyDeleteYou have to trust your teacher! :)
DeleteSometimes we may look silly, but it's usually because we hold back - not when we dance full out!
As a beginner i need to remind to myself mostly the last 3 ones :) I used to kind of be amused at the beginning when the teacher said: "hengitä" but now i really notice that if the exercise is hard, i do not breath!hehe so it´s good they remind it to us. The other two, i guess it´s adding a little bit of more confidence, but how hard it´s somedays! :)
ReplyDeleteEven though I'm no beginner, I need to remind myself to breath.. But you learn quickly when you're rehearsing longer choreography or variations. It's impossible to sustain energy if you don't breath every chance you get! :)

Confidence comes with practice!
