Random Ballet Notes

  1. I must admit to asking my teacher on Saturday whether we looked ridiculous when she asked if we had any questions after completing a port de bras. It's a very romantic choreography complete with lots of head tilts and I suddenly became self aware in the middle... but she assured me that we did not look silly :-)

    1. You have to trust your teacher! :)

Sometimes we may look silly, but it's usually because we hold back - not when we dance full out!

  2. As a beginner i need to remind to myself mostly the last 3 ones :) I used to kind of be amused at the beginning when the teacher said: "hengitä" but now i really notice that if the exercise is hard, i do not breath!hehe so it´s good they remind it to us. The other two, i guess it´s adding a little bit of more confidence, but how hard it´s somedays! :)

    1. Even though I'm no beginner, I need to remind myself to breath.. But you learn quickly when you're rehearsing longer choreography or variations. It's impossible to sustain energy if you don't breath every chance you get! :)

Now I take care to breathe and to release tightness in the muscles and posture, and in my face too ;)

      Confidence comes with practice!

  3. My partner and I absolutely love your blog and find most of your post's to be just what I'm looking for.
can you offer guest writers to write content available for you?
I wouldn't mind composing a post or elaborating on a number of the subjects you write related to here. Again, awesome weblog!
