In the past years, my ballet teacher has often told us to move like cats.. It's an image that has kind of stuck to my mind, and now I cannot help but see ballet in cat photos everywhere. That's how I came up with the "Ballet de Chat -lessons." The photos are from pinterest, and do not belong to me, but all texts were added by myself. The lessons are straight from class, and quite a few are courtesy of Marie-Pierre, our marvellous teacher of the cat move.
Which is your favorite lesson?

I love this, especially the last one. My face often looks like that when I'm trying to master a new step or routine in class!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Claire! And about that last lesson: You and me both! Especially when there are tricky pirouettes... :D
DeleteIhana idea!
ReplyDeleteKiitos! Olen kissaihminen, mutta vietän niin vähän aikaa kotona ettei ole järkevää pitää lemmikkiä.. Tämä käy vähän niiku korvikkeesta. Kissaterapiaa balettitanssijoille! ;)
DeleteI love these! So much fun!
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute!
ReplyDeleteI took the liberty of tweeting about this post on twitter:

"Some good pictures for ailurophiles and even some useful tips for adult ballet students http://pointetilyoudrop.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/ballet-de-chat-lessons_17.html …"
I hope it gets you some more readers.
Why, thank you.. :) I haven't had any ailurophiles on this blog before, that's for sure. ;)
DeleteNot that ballet dancers don't love cats.. Just that most readers stop by for the ballet stuff. :)
DeleteThis is great! Love them ALL, especially #5!
ReplyDeleteOmigosh, this is sooooooo cute! How did I not notice this one before?! Now I feel like a perfect copycat (ha - a cat!) for having blogged last week about "ten things my cats have taught me about ballet" over at The Classical Girl. That said, I much prefer the photos on yours; they are all so very precious.
ReplyDeleteI am a cat person - can you tell? : ) Thank you for the lovely entertainment here.
Thank you! Terez, I read your post and have been meaning to comment on it! Just like the language of dance is universal, so is the movement of cats... ;) I had a cat when I was seven years old, but never since. I wonder if would have picked up on the same things you did... :)
DeleteI really love this concept. My favorite is Lesson 1
ReplyDeleteThank you! Lesson nr.1 works before and after the show :)
DeleteWow, I love these especially the last one! I have definitely seen that face in the mirror!
ReplyDeleteOh weird. My cat (the top one sleeping on my tutu) is internet famous. Small world.
ReplyDeleteHi Mattie, I found the image on pinterest, and it's just adorable. Hope you don't mind I borrowed it for my Ballet de Chat series... If you like, I could add credits to the image. Let me know. :)
